Your duty is to sanctify yourself. Yes, even you. Who thinks that this task is only for priests and religious? To everyone, without exception, our Lord said: Be ye perfect, as my heavenly Father is perfect. St. Josemaria

Mary's bruise on her face; La Macarena

                                             Our Lady of Hope
La Macarena has a story of the bruise on her face.
One notices a bruise on the right cheek of the life like image. This was not painted by any artist. During one of the Holy Week processions, a drunkard in the crowd shouted insults at Our Lady and finally threw a glass bottle at her, hitting her cheek. It left the bruise that is still visible today. Many artists have tried to repair the damage to the cheek but each time, as soon as the restoration was completed, the bruise would return as if newly made. When the man who committed this terrible offense against the Mother of God became sober, he saw the bruise and repented for his crime. For his penance, he resolved to walk before the statue each Holy Week with chains on his feet and carrying a cross to expiate his sin.
After his death, his descendants continued this practice. To this day, it is said, a family member continues this act. It is a marvelous example of the reparation of a family for the sin of one of its members.

Its is amazing how we bruise our Lord and Mother's face with all of our sins. Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.

We have now for a few years been watching this unbelievable and breath taking tradition in Seville Spain. One day we'll watch it live in Seville. But for now, online steaming is what we have. Thank goodness.
.Christ Sentenced - Seville
During Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Seville, Spain there are processions in which enormous floats are carried around the streets of Seville by teams of "costaleros" (bearers) followed by hundreds of "nazarenos" (penitents). Many of these floats are religious works of the art that date back as fars as the 17th century, each showing a small part of the Easter story.

These processions each of which takes many hours between leaving its parish at midnight on Good Friday and returning there after following a set route around the city to the Cathedral and back.

Male are the costaleros who carry the float. It's a once in a lifetime honor to do so. The floats may weigh over 20000kg and on average there are 60 costaleros at a time taking turns due to each one is supporting a weight of 50kg for about 8 hours.

In 2004 and 2005 the rain cancel many of these and men were crying in the street knowing that they will never get a chance to be a costaleros.

Its a beauty of the church to have such traditions that show the world our love for Christ.

Here are few different floats that are used during Holy Week.

We watch it live on here: Yesterday was just amazing!!

Have Fruitful Holy Week!

The Friday of Our Lady of Sorrow

In some Hispanic cultures, there is this  tradition that the Friday before Palm Sunday is offer to Our Lady of Sorrows for she will soon be in her greatest sorrow as she watches her son die  for our sins.

We usually  change up our alter or mantle and place a picture of Our Lady, we have a picture of

We add some flowers and three candles for the Holy Trinity.

On this day last year, the Friday before Palm Sunday, God was very kind with me (in what I call my hardest lent ever) and let me experience some of our Lady's Sorrow of losing her son, as I lost my dearest son Benedicto.

I headed to the coldest room in my life and waited more than 12 hours to deliver a son who was Deliver to Christ at 3 am March 31st.   He let me have a true experiences of Holy Week that I will never forget.

Once again, on the 1 year anniversary of this very sad day of my life, it will be  this Easter Sunday, the Most Glorious day of the year! But instead of having the sense of lost, I will have this joyous day knowing that my Benedicto with his brother and sister are truly  living the Glorious Easter with Christ  himself.

On a side note, while I was pregnant with my son, I wanted to name him Francisco but when we lost him and had to deliver him, we named him, Benedicto. I would of never thought that a year later we would have another Pope and his name would be Francisco.

Please if you kindly remember to keep me in your prayers this Easter Sunday.

Have a Blessed Palm Sunday!

Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter.

Making my ugly Home-management binder into

Into something prettier. Here is how .

{ Happy }

She is so happy when she is doing her "school work".  I have started back again using the Workbox system for the kids but using a bind with folders and everyday we have to have something different in these folders for Miss. Gotta Do School Work Girl.

The kids were happy with this pizza made with  cauliflower crust pizza.

Licking it clean means she must of approved of the raw chocolate avocado pudding.
I didn't let her know what was really in it.

Pope Francisco . He is different but so loved already.  But I have to admit, I miss Pope Benedicto very much and it is hard to know that he is still living and not our pope at the same time.
But God is so good to us and give us another sweet Holy Father to love and to pray for.

From Plain to Pretty under $5

I have been using a Home-management binder where I keep my  life in it. I couldn't find a pretty one that I like without going over too much money for it.  So I had this plain pink one for Walmart at $2.

Than later on I found this pretty fabric at Walmart for a dollar that was already cut.

I thought I could use it for something. I really like the fabric.  Than I thought, Oh, I can make a cover for my plain binder.  So I did, using  hot-glue and a little bit of pink ribbon since it was just a tab bit short to cover the whole binder.

I fold the edges where I also hot glue them together.

I had this hot pink ribbon that I place on the edges on the outside of the binder on both sides.

There you have it. A prettier blinder for less than $5!

round button chicken Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. Every Thursday at Like Mother, Like Daughter

We are just so happy with our new Pope Francisco  may God and Our Blessed Mother bless him, protect him , guided him and encourage him today and everyday.Viva Papa!

We finally able to enjoy watching the birds coming to feed. And really nothing like reading and praying while you have these little guys hanging around and hearing them sing for you in the morning.
It just shows how much HE loves us that He sends us these beautiful  love notes to us daily.

Ok, so its not a picture but a short clip of my only son practicing the piano for his big first recital on Sunday. It all goes well until the end where he throws in his true personality.
Just love this kid!

I don't know when she gets into our bed with us but I love how she has to bring her baby doll and her pillow pet.  It sure makes it hard to get of bed, you just want to stay with them where it is safe and sweet.

Here is the oldest during "reading time" and I wish I had this growing up.

A Fast Give-Away

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

It sounds so simple and its so true. But do we do it for His glory? Do we eat, drink and all for His Glory?

I never put more thought into it that a simple act of eating or drinking can be done for His Glory. Its in the little things of daily life that does bring this glory to God.

Everyone is call to be a  Saint. Everyone. But most of us will not be those type of Saints such as Padre Pio, St. Therese, etc. that the world will know of us. No but we are going to be Saints in the little acts of every single day. And at the end of the day, a Saint is a Saint.

God wants our Love be shown in details. God is not indifferent to our smallest actions. He is delighted.
The interior life is composed of many little acts of love towards the Lord. In the course of our lives, we will have few monumental deeds to present to God. Nevertheless, every day is full of little opportunities to be faithful. This is how we can win over God's love on a daily basis.
In order to be faithful in little things we need a lively love for God. This love will be proved in Little details.
Each and every circumstance and event can be converted into something pleasing to God, no matter how important or trivial it may seem to us. We can attract the attention of Jesus through our approach to little things. We can move the Lord's heart by the love we put into them for his sake.

Each one of us can imagine the many opportunities there are to convert the dullest day into the most heroic episode. We simply have to offer to God the little details of the present moment.
Francis Carvajal in Lukewarmness The Devil in Disguise

Those are some heavy food for thoughts.  So speaking of Food, in our most simple and daily act of food and drink, we can and should give Glory to God by taking care of what we are eating and drinking and how often.

Its not easy this way of life but it is I believe a very powerful tool in helping one to control ones willpower as well as giving glory to God.   But the fruits of being able to fast and pray for God's glory is beyond anything we can ever dream of .

So, I came across another documentary after, Eat, Fast and Live Longer and its called, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead.    Very well done and interesting. Watch the trailer and you can watch the whole thing on Netflix or maybe on YouTube if you don't have netflix.

There are so many great information on this whole thing of fasting or Intermittent Fasting .
Here are a few sources:
Mark's Daily Apple  and    ifaster  intermittent fasting for women

There are many facebook pages, and forum support out there.
You can join us at Pray & Fast which is more of a catholic view with fasting for support.

Now, ever since I  fell upon this way of life, I have not just lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks but my cycles have been normal. I also notice food better if that makes sense especially on my feast days. I don't really feast as you think but I take my time and enjoy my food and really see what I am eating. My energy level has increased and I think that also has help with  my workouts.

So Dr. Molsey book has finally arrived in the USA in Feb. So I am giving away his book:
The FastDiet in either regular book or kindle

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

It is so much fun to see what types of flowers we are going to get this spring since it will be our first spring in our home in Mississippi. Here is what we have found so far!

I was able to do something to my bathroom that didn't take too much time or money  and I was very happy with it out come.

I got these black picture frames from the dollar store, I had the yellow 7/5 ribbon and than I look through my pictures for when the kids in the bathtub at any ages (of course nothing that would embarrassed them now) that I either had at hand or computer which those I made prints at Walgreen.
Than I took the backs out, hot-glue the ribbons and than I had fun putting them on the wall.

A nice Red Snapper that the kids love to take apart and looked at everything . It was a science class while having dinner all in one.

How many more will die?
