A Lenten Plan as easy as 1,2,3

We are one week away from the start of Lent. It is time to take this challenge to the next level. It is time to transform yourself  for Christ. It is time to transform your family so that we can transform this society of ours to HIS Glory.

A Lenten Plan is  as easy as 1, 2, 3.
(well, I wouldn't say really easy)

1.  PRAY

Set a daily time for HIM. Offer that time to Christ. I have been getting up at 5am so that I do have that time for HIM. Your time might be different or not. But set it and give it to HIM.
Have your books to read for lent ready to go and place where you will do your reading and prayer.
Here is my list:
(For the month of Feb. and March and the Lent one)

What are some of your books for this Lenten season?

2. FAST

Pick one, two or every other day to fast , a day with no more than 500 calories for women and 600 for men. (Please make sure its ok with your doctor, especially if your are nursing or pregnant all that good stuff!)

I find that it is easier to have set days. I have been for the last few weeks, 3 days a week (Tue/Thur/Sat.) however, for Lent I will fast on Wednesday and Fridays.

Remember that Christ wants and needs us to be cheerful. I know that is very hard to do. But when you think of those who are so cheerful with so much less than we have, you can't help but to smile.
Take your vitamins. It is a great help. Drink plenty of water.

54: " be cheerful, always cheerful. - Sadness is for those who do not consider themselves to be children of God." St. Josemaria Furrow

Most important, if you want choose everyday someone or something to offer up for your fast day. It makes it easier to know that somehow  your fasting is going to help someone in Our Beautiful Church to grow closer to God. We are partners with HIM. We are HIS instruments.

Go back to my post on Pray and Fast to see the medical benefits of fasting.

3. MOVE

You have to do something physically: for your body is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT.  Have the whole family move with you if that is easier. I usually get it done before the kids are up.
2 things that I found to be very helpful and very easy since I can do it anywhere is:

Bodyweight Exercise : meaning using your own body to exercise without using machines or going to the gym (maybe some dumbbells you can pick up at Walmart)
I found these site the most useful.
Nerd Fitness
He does a great job of showing via short clips and explaining it to you. You don't have to buy any of his books to get a set of workouts. He has many for free on his site.

If you have a kindle there are lots of free kindle books, just search: bodyweight exercise.

Cardio: My cardio workout are about no more than 20mins and some days it is only 4 mins. How you ask?Two things : Intervals Workouts

Have a notebook, write what body movement you do during lent. Commit to 40 days of moving for HIS Greater GLORY.

So there you have  it: A Lenten Plan as easy as 1, 2, 3  for this lent season.  Let us know  your plans. Share this with others if it will help one person, wonderful, as we are all HIS instruments in this world.
