Your duty is to sanctify yourself. Yes, even you. Who thinks that this task is only for priests and religious? To everyone, without exception, our Lord said: Be ye perfect, as my heavenly Father is perfect. St. Josemaria

On Their Behalf.. we send Our Red Envelopes!

I got this over at American Papist and I think this is what we should all do.. please post it on your blogs or your groups!

Remember that Red Envelope campaign? Check out this redirection/development:

The (ND) students have begun a campaign of protest against Fr. John Jenkins, the president of Notre Dame. Their participation in a national campaign that will mail red envelopes to the White House has been changed to send the letters to Fr. Jenkins.

"This envelope represents one child who died because of an abortion," read the envelopes. "It is empty because the life that was taken is now unable to be a part of our world. This envelope was going to be sent to President Obama on March 31. However, as he is scheduled to receive an Honorary Doctorate of Laws Degree from Notre Dame on May 17, we ask that you deliver it to him on our behalf at that time."

So mail your Red Envelope to Fr. Jenkins at
University of Notre Dame

May God have Mercy on Our Souls!

They Love the Mass..

I read this great article by Father John McCloskey :

Here is a start to the article...
When I was a young man serving Mass at my local parish, I was struck by one particular priest who was resident in the parish. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a trained lawyer and at that time the editor of the local diocesan newspaper at a particularly difficult time, after the issuing of “Humanae Vitae.” This would have been just after the Second Vatican Council when there was much confusion regarding the liturgy, priestly identity, and the role of the laity. This priest, I noticed, always remained after the Holy Mass for some time to give thanks, was meticulous in the care he took with particles of the Host that might accidentally have fallen on the altar or on the floor during the course of Holy Communion. I also would often see him praying before the Blessed Sacrament in the Church. Many years later, I learned that he was a priest of the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross and that, at least in part, he had learned these fine details of priestly piety towards the Eucharist from the example and teachings of the Founder of Opus Dei.

As Saint Josemaria put it:

“We are not going to do an irreverent genuflection, like the soldiers did before Christ. We are going to adore! The people notice everything and they will think: my priest, how he loves Jesus! How clearly he knows that he is in the Sacred Host! If they only see you on your knees before the Lord, you will win over their souls. Don't exaggerate but work within the ecclesiastical law putting there your heart and faith. (get-together with priests 10/31/72).”

“A priest's worth can be measured by the way he lives his Mass.”--St Josemaria

May It Come!

From FoxNews..

In a statement issued Monday, the Rev. John Jenkins, Notre Dame's president, said Obama will be honored as an "inspiring leader" at the commencement.

"Of course, this does not mean we support all of his positions," Jenkins said. "The invitation to President Obama to be our Commencement speaker should not be taken as condoning or endorsing his positions on specific issues regarding the protection of human life, including abortion and embryonic stem cell research. Yet, we see his visit as a basis for further positive engagement."

.
But Ralph McInerny, a philosophy professor at Notre Dame for more than 50 years, likened the invitation as a "deliberate thumbing of the collective nose" at the Roman Catholic Church.
"By inviting Barack Obama to be the 2009 commencement speaker, Notre Dame has forfeited its right to call itself a Catholic university," McInerny wrote in a column for The Catholic Thing. "It invites an official rebuke. May it come."

Will it come is the real question?

Cafeteria Lunch anyone?

How can anyone prefer cafeteria lunch to this? Another beauty in homeschooling. You wonder also what type of conversation they are having over lunch? I know for sure that their friendship is benefiting from this lunch! This weekend, a very dear friend of ours was able to get this great play set at our back yard and the kids have been using it! Thank God for some good weather.. but I just can't wait until SPRING!

Thank you, Our Dear Mr. Holmes!

Is this the beginning?

Most Important Story of the Day
The Connecticut legislature introduced Raised Bill 1098 which takes aim directly at the Catholic Church -and no other church. The bill would remove the authority of the bishop and pastor over individual parishes and put a board of laymen in their place.

Read this article as well.. its an eye opener!!
"If this bill were to be enacted,” warned Bishop Lori, “your bishop, would have virtually, virtually no real relationship with the 87 parishes…they could go off independently, some of them could break off from the Church if they wished, and go their own way as has happened, for example, with the Episcopal Church. And the pastors would be figureheads, simply working for a board of trustees," he said last Friday.

If this pass, it will be a big hit against the Church! For my parents, they will be reliving Cuba again! What does 50 years exile of their beloved Country done for them?

May God protect us!

Thanks JMJ for sending this out!
