Your duty is to sanctify yourself. Yes, even you. Who thinks that this task is only for priests and religious? To everyone, without exception, our Lord said: Be ye perfect, as my heavenly Father is perfect. St. Josemaria

Meme

Thank you, JMJ for including me in this ...

These are the rules: Pass this on to 5 blogging friends. Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that.

My book: Saint Rose of Lima: The Story of the First Canonized Saint of the Americans. (This book was given to me by a great homeschooling friend, she gave it to us when she brought over dinner after the birth of babymums and its been my PrincessGirl biggest treat at bed time.)

pg. 56

"Charity! Gaspar, do you realize this is the year 1606? Rose is twenty years old and not married yet! Surely I have a right to complain when she spends hours at a time with sick Indians and Negroes. Why can't she be interested in meeting some nice young men for a change?"

"What good would that be? You know what the child told us."

A shadow crossed Maria's face. So Gaspar really believed that his daughter could never marry because she had promised herself to God at the age of five.
Passing it along to...

1st Club Meeting

We deiced to have a club on Our Lady of Guadalupe. We plan to hold 3 meetings and than finish up with a Procession downtown with a Fiesta on December 12th. Our first meeting was last Thursday and we had a great turn out!

The kids watch the cartoon movie "Juan Diego". Afterwards, I gave them a small lesson on different symbols on the image of St. Juan Diego's tilma.

First, we talk about Our Lady standing on the moon; the symbolism is that of the woman of Rev. 12:1 who has the "moon under her feet". The moon for the Meso-Americans was the god of the night. By standing on the moon, she shows that she is more powerful than the god of darkness.

2nd: The eyes of Our lady of Guadalupe are looking down with humility and compassion. This was a sign to the native people that she was not a god since in their iconography the gods stare straight ahead with their eyes wide open.

3rd: The angel supporting the Lady testifies to her royalty. To the Meso-American Indians only kings, queens and other dignitaries would be carried on the shoulders of someone. The angel is transporting the Lady to the people as a sign that a new age has come.

4th: The mantle of the Lady is blue-green or turquoise. To the native people, this was the color of the gods and of royalty.

5th: The stars on the Lady’s mantle shows that she comes from heaven. She comes as the Queen of Heaven but with the eyes of a humble and loving mother. The stars also are a sign of the supernatural character of the image. The stars on the Lady’s mantle in the image are
exactly as the stars of the winter solstice appeared before dawn on the morning of December 12,
1531.

6th: The color of the Madonna’s dress is rose or pale-red. Some have interpreted this as the color of dawn symbolizing the beginning of a new era. Others point to the red as a sign of martyrdom for the faith and divine love.

7th: The gold-encircled cross brooch under the neck of the Lady’s robe is a symbol of sanctity.

8th: The girdle or bow around her waist is a sign of her virginity.

After our lesson here, their craft was to put these signs onto a poster with the picture of Our Lady and having it count to parts of the Tilma. So that the children can recall some of these facts with pictures.

Blondie hard at work!

Than they recreated their own scene of when Our Lady appear to Juan Diego with the miracle of the roses. The kids seem to have a great time!

St. Cecilia...

Like any good Christian, Cecilia sang in her heart, and sometimes with her voice. She has become a symbol of the Church's conviction that good music is an integral part of the liturgy, of greater value to the Church than any other art. In the present confused state of Church music, it may be useful to recall some words of Vatican II.

“"Liturgical action is given a more noble form when sacred rites are solemnized in song, with the assistance of sacred ministers and the active participation of the people.... Choirs must be diligently promoted, but bishops and other pastors must ensure that, whenever the sacred action is to be celebrated with song, the whole body of the faithful may be able to contribute that active participation which is rightfully theirs.... Gregorian chant, other things being equal, should be given pride of place in liturgical services. But other kinds of sacred music, especially polyphony, are by no means excluded.... Religious singing by the people is to be skillfully fostered, so that in devotions and sacred exercises, as also during liturgical services, the voices of the faithful may ring out” (Constitution on the Liturgy, 112-118).'
Dear St. Cecilia, one thing we know for certain about you is that you became a heroic martyr in fidelity to your divine Bridegroom. We do not know that you were a musician, but we are told that you heard Angels sing.Inspire musicians to gladden the hearts of people by filling the air with God's gift of music and reminding them of the divine Musician who created all beauty. Amen.

Lord, hear our requests. Through the intercession of St. Cecilia, please grant what we ask.
Amen.

Where did that baby boy go?

Where did my baby boy go? My husband had sent me these pictures the other day. Its so sad how fast they grow. One must take each day as a great gift from God with your children for you don't know what tomorrow brings or takes. I am so blessed to have these children. May Our Blessed Mother encourage us, guide us and protect us as we walk in this journey of Mother Hood!
God love them!

Must Reach 10,000

The St. Michael the Archangel Organization is pleased to announce

the first annual "10,000 Masses for Unborn Babies" effort.
From Jaunuary 13th-21st, it is hoped the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered at least 10,000 times for the following intention:

FOR THE PROTECTION OF UNBORN HUMAN PERSONS.

How can you help in this effort?

1) Ask a priest to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on one of the following days from Jan 13 -21st. The Mass needs to be offered for the following intention: FOR THE PROTECTION OF UNBORN HUMAN PERSONS.You may of course have more than one Mass offered. (Please note: Any priest offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass needs to be in good standing with the Catholic Church which has Pope Benedict XVI, the 264th successor of St Peter, as the pope.)

2) After you have completed step 1, you will need to register thetime(s) , Location(s), etc of the Mass(es). In order to do that, you may go to the website, http://www.saintmichaelthearchangelorganization.org/

Let's help them reach that 10,000 Mass goal.

It was just too boring to watch!

Here we have babymums being so tired with watching her daddy's team Eagles playing a very boring game. They actually tied the game with a 1-8 team. Now as I was thinking if we're watching my Dolphin team, it would actually be a different story.. since they just won their 5th game in the role! Now that is exciting! Especially for a team that last year was 1-11! This might be the year of the Dolphins... Some may recall that the year before the Bears went to the Superbowl, they were 1-11 also! Never know!

However, there is no happy ending to this story, my beloved Husband put the Eagles song on his phone as an alarm so this morning about 6:30am or so I woke up to hearing... Fly Eagles Fly...
No mercy!
God love Him!

"All I want for Christmas is my 2 front teeth"

Well, PrincessGirl lost her 1st tooth without noticing it. I told her that she can draw a picture of her tooth and place that under her pillow. Sure enough the Tooth Fairy came and left her a dollar bill! I will need to start losing my teeth to make some money!

Having your oldest lose her 1st tooth is sad for its a great reminder that she is growing up so fast!

God love them!

Where is Freedom in "FOCA?"

"A terrible piece of legislation called "The Freedom of Choice Act" (FOCA).
FOCA would establish the right to abortion as a fundamental right (like the right to free speech) and wipe away every restriction on abortion nationwide.
It will eradicate state and federal abortion laws that the majority of Americans support and prevent states from enacting similar protective measures in the future.
Please read the expert analysis by Americans United for Life (AUL) and sign the Fight FOCA petition at:http://www.FightFOCA.com
Thank you!"
